When Do You Get the DS-3035 Case Number?

Immediately after completing the online DS-3035. DOS states that the J Visa Waiver Online system provides the waiver case number and generates the barcode application. Print the barcode in black and white rather than color. Keep the case number because DOS instructs applicants to use the same number for future waiver recommendation applications and Advisory Opinion requests.

The case number is issued immediately

DOS states that completing the online DS-3035 immediately generates a waiver case number along with further instructions.

The same case number follows future waiver activity

DOS states in its FAQs that the same case number is used for future waiver recommendation applications and Advisory Opinion requests associated with the applicant.

Third parties need the correct case information

Embassies, federal agencies, USCIS, state health departments, and other third parties submitting documents need the correct identifying information so the Waiver Review Division can associate their records with the applicant's case.
