How Do You Check No Objection Waiver Status?

Use the DOS J Visa Waiver Online status system with your waiver case number. Check whether DOS has recorded the DS-3035 materials, fee, and required supporting documents, especially the No Objection Statement sent by the foreign government. If a required third-party document is not yet shown, allow the DOS status system time to update and confirm that the sending government transmitted it. After DOS forwards its recommendation to USCIS, USCIS controls the final waiver adjudication.

Use the DOS waiver status system

Applicants can use the J Visa Waiver Online system and the waiver case number to check case status.

Confirm receipt of the No Objection Statement

Because the statement is sent by a third party, the status system is particularly useful for confirming whether DOS has recorded receipt of the required government document.

Allow time for receipt to appear

DOS warns that updates reflecting receipt of third-party supporting documents can take at least three to four weeks to appear online.

After DOS sends the recommendation, USCIS has jurisdiction

Once DOS forwards its recommendation to USCIS, DOS no longer controls final adjudication. USCIS makes the final decision on the waiver.
