J-1 Waiver Problems

What If the State Conrad 30 Waiver Request Does Not Appear in DOS Status?

The designated State Public Health Department or equivalent must submit the Conrad waiver package directly to DOS. Third-party receipt updates can take several weeks to appear.

The state submits the supporting package

The State Public Health Department or equivalent, rather than the physician, sends the required Conrad supporting materials to WRD.

Allow time for the receipt update

DOS states that third-party supporting-document updates can take at least three to four weeks to appear.

Confirm transmission with the state program

If the package remains absent after the normal update period, confirm with the state's designated contact that the submission was actually sent.

Home-government funding may add another required document

A physician whose exchange program was funded by the home-country government may also need the special Conrad No Objection Statement described by DOS.
