J-1 Waiver Process

Should You Enter an I-94 Number on the Current DS-3035?

Current DOS instructions say to skip the I-94 Number field because I-94 numbers are no longer required for J-1 waiver recommendation processing.

DOS says the I-94 field may be skipped

Current instructions state that I-94 numbers are no longer required for processing the waiver recommendation application.

Do not confuse DS-3035 requirements with other immigration filings

An I-94 remains important in many immigration contexts, but DOS currently does not require the number in this DS-3035 field.

Use the current online form

Because form requirements can change, applicants should follow the current J Visa Waiver Online instructions rather than an older filing guide.

Other J program documents remain required

Skipping the I-94 field does not change the requirement to submit the complete DS-2019 or IAP-66 program history.
